the confidence coalition is an organization that enables women and young girls of all ages to stand up to peer pressure and media stereotypes, say no to risky behavior and abusive relationships, and put an end to relational aggression, such as bullying – on the playground and in the office. The coalition brings together organizations and individuals who support the confidence movement.
We are hosting this event for the Confidence Coalition called the “You Make Me Smile” Campaign, which is designed to brighten a young girls day and boost her confidence by passing out balloons with positive and motivational messages on them. At this event we are hoping to have girls pick out an outfit of their choice from the newest mary helen collection that they feel beautiful in and allow them to be photographed in it with their balloon.
Afterwards we are planning to have the young girls invade the Northern Kentucky area with these positive message balloons to pass out to strangers in hopes of making their day and promoting our movement.
if you have taken the time to check out our new sunkissed collection you may of noticed one of this season’s biggest trend: print mixing. this is a trend that you have to be cautious with because if done the wrong way it can end up looking overwhelming and be difficult to look at. mary helen here is share the secrets behind mixing patterns to make a fashion statement and not a fashion faux pas!
Rule #1 : the best way to pair to very contrasting prints is to use color as a way to bridge them together. one good example of this from our sunkissed collection is the ‘lilly’ shift dress. athough the polka dots and the floral print in this dress are completely different, because they both share that pastel pink the dress looks cohesive.
Rule #2 : when mixing patterns, stripes are ALWAYS a neutral! no matter what the occasion is when mixing prints you can always count on stripes to be your fall back print when all else fails. we used stripes as a neutral on the sleeves and bottom band of our kendall tunic.
Rule #3 : when mixing similar prints make sure the scale of the prints are different. it’s very important that when you do similar prints that the sizes of the prints vary and that one is large while the other is smaller. our ‘bailey’ dress is a great example of scaling similar prints. you can see that we layered large stripes on top of smaller stripes at the bottom of the dress to gain the perfect pattern mixing balance.
